Our after-school program provides an opportunity for students to learn about the connection between our food, our health and the environment through hands-on gardening and culinary activities. Our lessons cover the aspects of food origin and production, environmental impact, health of our bodies and ecosystems and the role that culture plays in shaping our food systems and what we eat. Additionally, participating students develop interpersonal skills as they work with our program manager and volunteer mentors to grow, maintain, harvest and cook garden-fresh food!
This generous donation provides necessary funding for the Green Heart Project to facilitate an after-school program for a semester at one of our cooperating schools. It helps to cover the costs of program materials, food supplies, curriculum development and program support.
